Gas Fireplace Removal?

We just bought a home that has a Florida room with a gas fireplace. Because this is the only room that works as a toy room we would rather have the fireplace removed and have a ductless HVAC installed. First, how do we go about getting the propane tank removed? The previous owners had it filled right before selling it. Second, how do we safely detach the gas line from the fireplace so that the fireplace itself can be removed? Third, is it possible to sell the gas fireplace or is a used gas fireplace just junk in need of being hauled away? Third, what kind of ductless unit would you suggest for a 16x16 room? TIA!

There should be a shut off valve on the tank and at the fireplace. Mitsubishi makes a very good minisplit.
