Oil furnace air filter

We have a older Brock oil furnace. model MBP-F. It has a washable air filter with black plastic sides. we usually just hose it off but decided do a big clean and took it apart. washed it and left it out side to dry. its very clean!
There is a light grey filter and a another one in the black plastic casing. does it matter which one is on top? the filter goes in the furnace horizontally. thank you

I'm not sure anyone here can help you with that based on the brand and age. If you could post a few pictures we could probably help based on those. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...-pictures.html

Looks like a home made oil furnace. I've never seen one quite like that.

It looks like the supply is at the top and the return is on the right side. The filter is usually in the return side. The arrow points in the direction of the airflow.... which looks like up in your unit.
