Pellet stove exhaust fan not spinning

Hi all,

I own a Palazetti pellet stove (Ecofire model) which reports an error message on start. This message is referring to an exhaust fan problem. The shaft is spinning without any problem.

I checked the voltage arriving at motor (230V OK) and at the encoder (+5V ok). So it might be the capacitor which is failing. I need to check it, but as a test, can I bypass it to just known whether the motor starts ? Or can I spin the motor manually enough and power up the stove the launch the motor ?

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forums.

Going to need more if you want my help.
Did you post the correct product name or is it Piazzetta pellet stove ?
Either way..... no listing for an ecofire model.
Is there a model number ? Maybe a link to it ?
The diagram needs to be larger for me to see it.

The encoder is a three terminal device and connected with three wires. One wire is +5v. One wire is common or -. The third wire is a pulse. It should supply a pulse as the shaft is turned. You can read the speed pulses using an AC voltmeter set to a low scale. Connect the meter to common and the center or pulse line. If you see AC voltage AS the motor turns..... it's good.

It started!

Hi PJmax,

Thanks for your answer. Actually, I had a spare capacitor with the same range (1µF but for up to 2100V) which I put aside when I disassembled an out of order micro wave.

I swap it over and it restarted again as usual. I tested the old capacitor and it was only a fraction of a µF, so not close to 1 µF.

Thanks a lot for your help !

Crossflow fan now spinning more rapidly, not as expected

Hi all,

Not I have another unexpected behavior: the crossflow fan (the one which flow the air through the stove in order to heat the room) is not spinning 30mn at high speed. Usually, it was like that a couple of seconds, and then was slowed down till an inappreciable speed, not hearable.

I can't imagine it's because I put a higher voltage capacitor (the one coming from a micro-wave oven), but maybe?

Any hint appreciated.

As I explained... I can offer a whole lot of help as I can't see that board and I have no tech info on that unit.

A higher voltage cap, but at the same rating, is fine.

Hi PJmax,

The exact modle is: "ECOFIRE SCRICCIOLA NEW 7 kW" here: HomePage - Palazzetti
I attached a bigger picture (page from documentation).

Engine number 3 on the diagram which is causing some trouble.

Thanks for your help.
