I wasn't sure where to post this, because I have a few different issues. I installed an Ecobee thermostat last night. It was also my first time running the Aprilaire 500M humidifier, but I don't believe it was running when I experienced the issues. It seemed to be working fine initially, but then I noticed that the thermostat went black. It reset and came back on shortly thereafter. This happened again maybe 30 minutes later. I think the heat was running, but I’m not certain. About an hour and a half later, while setting the night temperature, the thermostat went completely black. I couldn’t get it back on, despite flipping the furnace switch, tripping the breaker, and reseating the thermostat. It was getting late, so I couldn’t do much to troubleshoot. I read some other posts, and I saw some possible causes: 1. An issue with the high limit switch/sensor 2. Restricted airflow due to dirty filter, too many vents closed, etc. 3. Fan speed set too low 4. Issues with condensate pump or drain line This morning, I turned the furnace switch off and on. Nothing happened. I took off the furnace cover, checked all the wires, removed/reinserted the filter, and put the cover back on. The thermostat came back on, and it has stayed on. Does opening and closing the cover have something to do with it coming back on? I looked around my condo, and there was 1 closed register that I opened. I also turned the humidifier bypass to Winter mode. I wasn't sure if having the bypass open helps lower resistance. One point I do want to mention. I have the humidifier wired to common on the control board. I did not use the supplied transformer. I have not put that back on yet. Is it possible that the unit transformer got overloaded due to the smart thermostat, humidifier, and leak sensor? Is it bad to use the control board to power the humidifier? I appreciate any input/advice.

Heater has a slight smell of gas at the time of ignition There is no smell at any other time (when shutting down or stopped). Burners/ jets were cleaned a couple of months ago and work very well. Possible cause and repair/ Thanks
