Furnace seems to run fine, then shuts off.

I am trying to assist my parents with their furnace which seems to be having issues staying lit after not being used over the summer. I was able to light the pilot easily and the furnace fires up immediately. After about 10 minutes, the pilot light is extinguished. It seemed to function fine otherwise. Is there a likely culprit in this situation?

Any advice is appreciated!

Welcome to the forums.

I see the gas valve was replaced. You may need to replace the thermocouple. It's the part that sits in the flame and generates the voltage to keep the pilot valve open. It's connected by that small copper tube to the gas valve and is cable tied to the pilot gas line..

That is an OLD furnace. Has it been checked and cleaned recently ?
How does the pilot flame look when lit ?

Thanks for the reply. The pilot flame looks normal. According to my father, the furnace has been serviced within the last few years and a new thermocouple was installed.
