Turn off gas furnace pilot light?
I don't see using gas furnace for another 3-4 months. I went up to the attic to shut off the gas valve and turn off pilot light. But I could not locate the pilot light. Carrier gas furnace manual has no mention of pilot light. Turn on the gas control valve (attached) and open the gas supply valve, and thermostat switch will ignite the gas. Please confirm that this kind of system does not have pilot light. Thank you.
I have a related question. Gas water heater has a pilot light. Is there a reason why I should not keep thermostat (on the water tank) at Pilot for months?

A professional cleaning would involve pulling out the burners for cleaning. The gas orifices would be cleaned. The heat exchanger would be checked for excessive rust or rust thru damage.

What would be a professional or semiprofessional carbon monoxide meter for home use? I have CO alarms installed in bedrooms. But I would like to have a reader, too. Thank you.
