Question Which vacuum for annual oil furnace cleaning?

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good week. I'm feeling the $ pinch and want to clean my oil furnace rather than hire out. I've done it a couple times before and have a decent idea of what to do but one thing I'm unsure of is if I'm using an acceptable vacuum.

I currently have a PowerSmith 10 amp Ash vacuum. I figured if it's good enough to capture fine wood pellet ash, it will likely work on my oil furnace as well.

I also have a normal shop-vac with HEPA rated bags that I could put inside and I'm wondering if that's a better option, or if neither of these are safe.

Basically, I want to make sure I'm not filling the basement full of fine oil particles and I cannot afford one of those sootmaster vacs. Open to ideas, thanks for your time!

A Powersmith 10 amp vacuum is a good choice. Note that an ash vacuum filter, canister, and hose are designed to handle high temperatures while ordinary vacuums are not. I suggest wearing a dust respirator and safety glasses while working.

I make it a point to not service oil heating appliances unless it's an emergency.
I use a regular shop vac but I have a 5 gallon bucket in line.
This bucket catches all the oil mess/soot and keeps it away from my shop vac.
