Cushioning on glass table top table on our deck?

We bought a tropitone set of chairs and a glass top table about 25 years ago. Overall, in good condition.

I took the table apart to clean out dirt. On the arms / supports of the aluminum base were little blobs of a rubbery / sticky material. I've ignored them in the past. This time I want to replace them.

What do you know of / recommend some sort of cushioning between a glass table top and aluminum base?

I wound up getting some 3m clear plastic 'bumper' circles, but they were too thick. I cut the height down and put several on each arm.

Any way to know if there's too much stress / not enough support for the glass?

I'd hate to be the cause of it breaking after years of it being fine.

Looks like a well built table.

They come in all different thicknesses. You might not find all the sizes at one location.
They also make those flat which would work well there too.
