Mirror Clips - Mounting the Top Clips???

Folks,

I’ve bought these clips to hang my mirrors with. The retaining screws are hidden from view once the mirror is in position. So….fixing the top clips…any tips on making sure I get the screw mounting hole in the correct position? Too high and it will either look crap or may not even latch on the mirror. Too low and the mirror may not seat. Apart from timely and accurate measurement are there any other approaches anyone has used? These are the clips. Fitting the bottoms will be straightforward, I have a spirit level to get them in line correctly, it’s the tops I don’t want to mess up.

Install the bottom clips.
Remove the top piece of an upper clip.
Set the mirror in place on the bottom clips.
Place the main part of the upper clip on the top of the mirror.
Mark a line across the upper clip.
Remove the mirror.
Hold an upper clip against the line and covering it (or ~ 1/16 inch above for clearance, mark for the screw and install the upper clip.
insert the mirror and install the top pieces of the upper clips.
