Sattelite dish mount hardware on siding

I mounted a dish network type satellite dish to the side of my house. I predrilled thru the replacement pvc siding and into the wood siding under it. I used 1/4"x 3" lag screws.

Seems pretty solid but I am wondering, was I supposed to assure I screwed into a stud? Or bitting into the new siding and old siding under ok? p.s. - I know I was in wood since I predrilled and had wood on my bit.

Please advise.

If your hardware had a solid bite..... you should be ok.
It's pretty hard to locate studs thru vinyl siding and sheathing

Siding block should have been installed first, with plywood inside the block before installing.
What you have now is crushing the siding so it can not expand and contract and cause it to buckle or come unlocked.
