Zinc, Galvanized, or Stainless

Hey everyone, sorry if this question has been posed before. I'm attaching swing hardware for my kids to the floor joists in my basement. Using 3/8" x 4" lag screws. Any real difference between zinc, galvanized, and stainless screws? I know there is for outdoor applications, but since I'm installing indoors and using for a kid's swing, not sure if there are any factors to consider. Thanks.

The galvanizing on steel is zinc. Then the difference is how the zinc is applied. Electroplated has a thin smooth sometimes shiny coating and is appropriate for indoor or weather protected areas. Hot dip galvanized has a much thicker coating that is dull and lumpy but better suited to survive out in the weather. Then there is stainless. Shiny and able to withstand the elements but double the cost.

With PD's explanation, there is no need for the use of either galvanized or stainless in your application.

As they say "stainless is forever".

Stainless, would be the high performance material.
Galvanize would be mid level and zinc the cheapest!

For indoor use any would work but zinc will be fine!
