Extracting Sheared Tapcon
Any suggestions on how to remove this sheared off 1/4" tapcon ? It sheared just below the surface of the tile laid over the concrete slab. I understand they are impossible to remove with a standard EZ-Out, but sometimes can be extracted with an external ez out. Has anyone had experience getting one of these out of concrete? If I can rent an external ez out, how much of the surrounding tile and concrete would I have to cut out to extract that tap con?
By way of background, this screw is the single means of holding in place a pedestal for a bathroom sink. If a screw is to be used, it has to be in that location. I can't drill another hole to the side. If the screw is left in place.

Is that the Tapcon in the lower picture ?
If yes.... get a GOOD pair of Vise Grips. Lock on and twist it out.
FYI.... a Tapcon is not considered a removable fastener. In other words..... once a Tapcon is installed..... the hole is comprised and a second screw may not hold. You want to install either a lead shield or expanding fastener that is removable.

Ah. Then what I was doing was all wrong to begin. If I get that tapcon out, I will install something that allows the bolt to be removed.
I figure I can cut a 2" square around the tapcon with the tile blade on a dremel saw max, chip out the concrete down about a half inch so I can grab the tap con with an external ez out or, better yet, vice grips.
I attached the wrong picture. This should be it.
