Thermostat for 7 wire heat pump
I'm looking at a new heat pump that requires 7 wires to the thermostat. Nest and Ecobee smart thermostats are not compatible as they use one wire for the reverser valve (6 wires total) and Am Stand uses 1 for the heat reverser and 1 for cooling reverser (7 wires). Am Stand smart thermostat (Alexa compatible) carries a hefty price tag of near $400. Has anyone had experience with a good smart thermostat compatible with this type of system?

Welcome to the forums.
I'm not aware of the requirement for an O and B operation.
I'm also not aware of a smart stat that does that.
Maybe my forum partner, Houston, can answer that one.

The B terminal on an American Standard Heat pump is the 24 volt common terminal.
The American Standard B will be the C terminal on any new thermostat.
American Standard only uses the O terminal to control the heat pump reversing valve.
The Honeywell Lyric T5 is a good option since the old B will be C on a new stat.
What is the model number of your existing thermostat?
There are some old zone control systems that require both an O and a B terminal.
This would be when you have more than 1 thermostat connected to a single heat pump.
