Anybody know what this is?

I have a 07 Ford E250 conversion van. There is a button along with what looks like should be some kind of display next to it. Must have something to do with sound to something because the button has a mute symbol on it.

The back of the button has 2 wires and the display part has a ribbon cable.

Any ideas?

Sorry but the top pic of the button is sideways. Should be rotated 90 degrees to the right. This stuff is mounted on the dash below and to the right of the steering wheel.

I agree...... the button looks like audio/mute.
Absolutely no idea what that other device is. Maybe try following the ribbon cable and see where it goes.

Is the van 2nd hand?

Looks like an aftermarket proximity / backup alarm, probably added the mute for situation when you're backing up to a loading dock.

Agree with Hal_S.

Possibly an addon backup camera with a backup or proximity alarm. Look around the rear of the unit for the camera. Possibly around the license plate.

Conversion van like for camping? If so, I'd bet the button is to mute a beeper like the others have said. Nothing like being almost asleep and then some jackwad who can't park gets the space beside you at 11pm.

Should be easy enough to test to find out.

Thought I posted that it is a mute for backup alarm but I don't see it. Anyway that is what it turns out to be. Thanks
