Wasps in covered car.

I've had a car in the driveway with a car cover on it but with the convertible top down most of the summer. Now that it's cooler I'm going work on it some more. I took the cover off and found a small wasp nest under the cover by the hood. About 3 inches across. Didn't notice any wasps in it. I do notice one or two wasps flying around or inside the car now. Could there be a second nest there? Like under the dash or in the vents? I assume if there are any there they will die off as colder weather comes? Don't want to be driving and have one come out.

Was the nest under the cover a live nest? And how did you dispose of it? Most likely the remaining wasp are looking for the nest. You might want to use some type of spray in and around the car. But if you can't see a nest it will be hard to dispose of it if it exist. You might try using mothballs in the car with the top up and sealed for several days.

Maybe BUGMAN can come up with a better solution.

It’s going to be hard to tell if there is an active nest or not. Like Norm said, you may be seeing the stragglers from the first nest if it was active.

Take some time on a sunny day and simply watch the car for wasp activity. They usually give themselves away if they are present.

The nests could be in wheel wheels too.

I blasted the nest away with a garden hose. It's in the bushes somewhere. Would an ozone generator do any good?

Interesting suggestion. What do you think it will do? Does an ozone generator have special effects to animals?

I know when I use it in the basement, it's pretty irritating to breathe.
