What Spider is that?
I was replacing my gutters when rain started and the gutter filled with water.
After that, there was a big black spider sitting under water in the gutter.
Never seen before.

That's interesting. Maybe spiders can briefly stay underwater. Some actually can live underwater but this isn't a "diving bell" spider.
How long did he stay under?

It is raining all day long today, so Thekla (I named her so) was under water the whole day walking around.

Very cool and I've seen similar. They don't need much air to begin with and the furrier types, the water doesn't actually get to their body because of surface tension, so they have a little cocoon of air around their breathing mechanisms...whatever type it may be. They don't actually actively breathe like a mammal (lungs inflating and deflating), so that small bubble could last quite a while. And who knows...doubt you could watch her 100% of the time so she may have briefly come out to renew the bubble, then gone right back in.
And I thought I was the only one who named spiders around the house.
