What kind of insulation is this? Asbestos?
Hello,
My home was built in 1964. It has about 2" of the stuff in the picture, plus about 5 inches of loose fiberglass insulation.
I've scoured the Internet trying to figure out what kind of insulation this is and am hoping you can offer some clarity. The most perplexing part is the silver-gray me, metallic, dusty-sandy looking stuff that settled to the bottom. Please let me know what you think THAT is.

I had something similar in a house that I once owned, and was told that it was "Rock Wool"; and I think it's still sold. See if what you have matches the descriptions of Rock Wool that you find on the Web.
