Insulation. Possible Asbestos??
Remodeling our attic in 1920's Chicago bungalow and found this insulation. This insulation is in the celling and walls. The wall is in a batt form and the ceiling is tough to say as it is just falling out in areas. Not sure if the batt backing stuck to the panel board and just fell out.
Not sure when the attic was finished likely in 70's if I had to guess. Thoughts if this insulation has asbestos? My research says it is likely not asbestos if it is not loose fill insulation but was looking for some more feedback.

Asbestos was rarely used for wall and ceiling general insulation. If you are still concerned there are test kits you can use to check it.

Thank you for the feedback and really grateful for your time. All the internet research would say the same but with two little boys in the house I want to be as certain as possible. Any particular test kits you suggest?

With an asbestos test kit..... you send a sample to the lab, they analyze the contents and then mail you back a report of what was found. The kits are available form all the home improvement stores as well as places like amazon.
Asbestos test kit
One thing to keep in mind..... the asbestos itself is not harmful. It becomes harmful when it is disturbed, becomes airborne and then gets breathed into the lungs. Any insulation can be hazardous to your health if you disturb it and the particles become airborne. Make sure the kids can't play near the insulation.
