Shut off power when insulating?
Hello, this may be a ridiculously stupid question. I am insulating a wall in my laundry room this weekend. Is it best practice to cut the power when I am doing so? I just don't know what wires are currently in the wall.
Thanks in advance.

Well you shouldn't be using your knife anywhere near wires if you cut on the floor or on a work bench, so I would say no.

Yeah, you should be cutting the bats to length on the floor. You may have to slit them to work them around wire cables, but the risk of cutting them should be slim to none. If you feel safer, kill the c/b.

Nothing should be dangerous if all the wires terminate in boxes. If there are any wire nuts or taped connections that aren't inside boxes then that would be a problem with how it was wired. Junctions need to be in a junction box and they need to be accessible, not buried inside a wall.
