Bumpy lawn

I bought a home approximately 10 years old with an established lawn. It is very bumpy. It feels like there are rocks under the turf, but no. It is strictly dirt elevations. I thought I might roll it after a very heavy rain, but understand that is not good for the roots.
I'm thinking when the yard was established, it was not graded properly by the contractor. What can I do to smooth it out?

I was going to write something; but then realized I'd probably just repeat what I had to say in this recent thread:

Maybe it fits . . . . maybe it doesn't. Sounds similar anyway !

Bumby lawn

That thought crossed my mind. What type of soil do you suggest?

Got some pictures?
Any landscaper with a few loads of top soil, skid loader and a Harley rake could make quick work of it.
