Is this a weed or just different type of grass?

I'm in CT, 06611, and generally have a mix of bluegrass, ryegrass and fescue (I believe). Not sure if this is a weed or some other kind of grass. Also, it's only popping up in some bad/patchy areas.

Thanks for your thoughts.

If the stem is noticably triangular shaped, it's a type of sedge.

Thanks. I'll look into that. Also here's a slightly bigger photo:

Here's a slightly bigger image size: http://i.imgur.com/pGiNEgc.jpg

Does that help?

So this stuff is now popping up like crazy (was just a little bit when I posted the other day). Below are some more detailed pics. Sedge, quack grass, something else? Thanks again!

Any chance it could be stiltgrass rather than quack or crab?

I guess I should just pull some and bring it to local garden center...
