bumpy lawn-how to fix?

a couple years ago I had my lawn dug up, new loam placed and reseeded (late october-i live in the Northeast)
suffice it to say, the grass is ok but the earth below is not flat/ all bumpy. walking across the lawn is like walking across a boulder field, difficult or painful for anyone with bad feet, I have almost turned my ankle several times.

lawnmower bounces a little bit and spreader bounces a LOT.

any suggestions on correcting this short of hiring a contractor to do it again? (this problem did not exist prior to the professional performing his work)

someone had suggested cutting the lawn short, apply loam, rake into low spots, roll and repeat, then overseed.

Ya, that would probably be the simplest fix, fill in the low spots and reseed.

You can fill in the low spots with sand if you want. The grass will grow right through it. Not knowing what type equipment you have, it would be beneficial to roll the lawn with a water type drum attached to a tractor. May have to rent both, but it would help flatten it out somewhat, provided the original digging didn't unearth rocks that weren't removed.
