planting around gas line

I want to plant some bushes. Called for utility locate because of gas line in vicinity. Where I want to plant them is 1' away from their marks. So its close but not right on top of the flags.

How deep are gas lines?
How approx. are the locations?

No location in your profile so no one's going to know your local codes.
Any utiility I've ever dealt with requires hand digging within 2' of there flags.
You hit it and it's on you for the cost of repair if you survive the blast.

You'll have to contact your locals or look it up as to what your codes are for burial depth. Most marking services will tell you the tolerance for their marking but I've found them to be quite accurate 90% of the time.
