how to apply Scotts Liquid Turf Builder

I divided my backyard into three areas to make the math easier.... A is 575 sq. feet. B is 495 square feet. C is 304 square feet. I bought Scotts Liquid Turf Builder 2 in 1 feed and water. 29 - 0 - 3. Covers 2,000 square feet. I HATE MATH. How do I know how fast, or slow, to walk as I'm spraying? How can I judge how much one 32 ounce bottle should cover? I see the markings on the side of the bottle ML 800 - 600 - 400 - 200. And OZ 28 - 24 - 20 - 16 - 12 - 8 - 4 -. It might be easier for me to do each area A B C separately so I don't get confused.

575 + 495 + 304 = 1374.

1374 / 2000 = 68.7%

32 x .687 = 22 Oz

So "theoretically" you should be exactly between the 12 - 8 oz marks once youre done spraying. And you practically need to run with those stupid bottles you attach to the hose. I hate them. I guarantee you will overfertilize with it, and maybe hurt the lawn.

It takes a lot of experience to know how fast to turn the water on, and how fast to walk. And even then, you usually overfertilize. And I'm not a big fan of stunting my lawn. I prefer granules.

Much easier to use granular fertilizer with a small spreader!

I use some sprays and trial and error works pretty well if you're going to use it multiple times. The first time I didn't get the results I wanted so I upped the distribution on the sprayer the second time and then the weeds I was trying to kill showed some damage. I've been comfortable with that setting since.

Applying the complete liquid bottle of fertilizer in one application will over fertilize the grass. A better approach id to divide volume of liquid fertilizer in ounces by 2000 square feet. This is Scotts recommended application fraction in ounces per 2000 square feet. Divide both numerator and denominator by the numerical value of ounces to get ounce per xxx square feet. Multiply both numerator and denominator by 32 to get 32 ounces.per yyy square feet.

Another option is a hand held spreader!

I understand all the concerns.

I've used hand held spreaders, once I even got a larger "push" spreader. I guess I had just as much confusion...how to set the "settings", how fast to walk, etc. I became comfortable with measuring and spraying a liquid Bermuda grass weed control for lawns using a one gallon sprayer so I felt, feel, optimistic that I could get a handle on using liquid fertilizer. I appreciate all the answers.
