Upgrading garage lighting
My detached garage currently has the fluorescent lighting in it. In the winter time, due to the temperature, they dont work well. Do they make LED lights for a space like a garage? If they do, anyone got a link?

You can get LED replacements for fluorescent bulbs for $20 or less on Amazon. Be sure to get the ones that do not require ballasts that way you eliminate a component that will eventually fail.

How old are your current lights? Old magnetic ballasts are/were much more sensitive to temperature. Replacing the ballasts with electronic might be the most economical solution. LED's are certainly an option but you have to consider their cost against how long they will be used. My shop gets down to freezing in winter and the lights with electronic ballasts don't have trouble starting .

Pulpo: Do you have a link? I went to Home Depot and Lowes and turned up empty
Ray2047: What search terms did you use?
Pilot Dane: Unknown how old they are. Maybe 10 years old if I had to guess.

HD also has Phillips bulbs that work with the ballast if you don't want to rewire to remove the ballast. They are around $10 a bulb. I installed them in new T8 fixtures I got on clearance at HD and am happy with them. Nice and bright.

That's the 4' LED. They also have a round LED.

Feit LED are sold at ACE hardware. They say swap them with the the fluorescent and leave the the ballast. Do I need to keep them or can I rewire without ballast?

I only have time for a quick search but I did see a few complaints on Feit LED on how long they last.
I put these in my garage and they have never failed to light instantly in below zero temps, nice and bright. Easy to hook up too.
