Need bright 3000-4000K LED lights for room with very high ceiling.

Hi,

My very high ceiling family room has 4 recessed lights for which I would like to get LED flood lights. Currently I have 3 CFL bulbs producing 750 lumens (one of them just died.) The other bulb is an old fashion incandescent bulb and I have no idea what the specs are.

I've decided to replace all the bulbs in one go. So here I am looking for 3000-4000K color LED light bulb that can make the room very bright.

Here is some details:
Present flood bulbs: ce15br30/4
Room size 250 - 300 sq ft.
Ceiling is 19 ft high.
Windows facing west.

I have seen the following for $50 on Amazon.
4-Pack of Hyperikon® BR40 LED Bulb, 16W (100W equivalent), 1420lm, 4000K (Daylight White®), Wide Flood Light Bulb, 120° Beam Angle, Medium Base (E26), Dimmable, ENERGY STAR-Qualified

Not sure how these would be...

Any suggestions please?

It will be a lot brighter than what you have. With 20 lumens per square foot and high ceiling it is not going to be what I would call "very bright", however.

The 120 beam is good since you only have 4 cans for the space. I personally like 4000K or even 5000K lighting, but for many folks it is kind of stark. Does make it feel brighter though, I think.

It's all rather subjective, so you are probably just going to have to try them.

Welcome to the forums what you are looking at on Amazon certainly should work well for what you need it for. However in the same what they call color temperature there is Daylight which is what you are looking at and then there is Warm which is less intense a light while still giving you the same amount of light. Since your ceiling is high though you really do need Daylight as for price I think the price is right and the bulbs seem to be rated good too. However I have never heard of that brand but have heard of this brand linked here Cree 65W Equivalent Daylight BR40 Dimmable LED Flood Light Bulb-BBR40-07650FLF-12DE26-1U100 - The Home Depot .

It is also more expensive a brand but a brand of which I am very familiar with as being good because I have replaced many incandescent and fluorescent bulbs with them. Not saying one brand is better than the other though as either could be just fine for you. I have bought other bulbs I have never heard of before on Amazon.com and they were just fine.

Be very careful, there is no standardization on terms such as "Daylight" or "Natural Daylight" across the industry. The only color standardization is the actual color temperature expressed in degrees Kelvin. I have seen some "Daylight" marked LED lamps from Osram/Sylvania that were as high as 5000K. Only the terminology of "Cool" and "Warm" has ever been used industry wide with fluorescent lighting; 4100K is "Cool" and 2800K is "Warm".

I would go to HD and pick up 4 different kinds of bulbs an experiment you have 90 days to return, also I think that 5000K is a bit harsh for area lighting, 2700 to 3000 are pretty close.

I own those '4-Pack of Hyperikon® BR40 LED Bulb, 16W (100W equivalent), 1420lm, 4000K (Daylight White®), Wide Flood Light Bulb, 120° Beam Angle, Medium Base (E26), Dimmable, ENERGY STAR-Qualified'

and they are bright!

Best part with Amazon, if you do not like them, just keep the box and return them. you can print out a return label and ship them back.
