Coach lights on aluminum siding
I am trying to change out the coach lights on my garage & back porch that were poorly mounted to the aluminum siding. I took one down yesterday to find out there is no wood underneath the siding and it was only secured to the studs (heard this was popular way back when. So I have a surface mounting siding box I am trying to attach to the siding but i have no way of anchoring it to the aluminum siding because of the lack of wood behind it. How can I safely secure these mounting boxes to the aluminum siding?
This link is what i want to secure to the siding to mount my lights:

Even a piece of plywood on the inside of the wall would provide support. It could be glued in place.

Nothing there
Guys i Understand that plywood would be enough and in my garage(even though its finished) i'll be able t do something like that. But as for my back patio there is nothing there. There is siding, then some type of black insulation, then nothing until the drywall in my dining room. I cant secure it to the drywall so what other options am i left with???
