What kind of lights would you use in this bookcase built-in?

I decided to add some lighting in builtin. Not sure if I will put lights at the top only or also under the other shelves. From what I am seeing, the puck lights aren't meant to be hardwired to a wall switch like regular lights.

So what would be the best way to do this? The wall is completely open with no drywall up.

The built-in is the book shelf next to the door.

12v LED tape lights might work well.

I was hoping to have something more permanent that was wired through a wall switch. Even if the lights are only at the top of the built-in.

Any more detailed drawing ?

LED tape is good but not on moveable shelves.
Light just at the top.... in the bookcase.... is pretty ineffective.

I have two similar looking bookcases in my living room lit by a recessed eyeball over each one.

Maybe you are right, It may be ineffective. I already have recessed lights and I will be adding sconces this weekend. My idea is to create contrast/shadows more than functional light. I have better sketchup angles or actual pictures of the area I'd be glad to post. What are you looking for?
