Ceiling Fan / Down Rod Assembly...

Have a Ceiling Fan from Hampton Bay sole owened by Home Depot.. The objective is to mount the Ceiling Fan flush to the ceiling.. It indicates on the Box of being able to do so.. Tried asking Home Depot to No Avail.. The problem is the Ball / Downrod Assembly, was told I could loosen the screw holding the rubber ball at the top slide the ball down the rod and screw back against the Rod.. There's only one hole drilled at the top holding the ball.. There is only one hole at the bottom of the rod for the Pin that slides in to hold the main fan body in place.. Tried explaining to the Home Dept people that just screwing the Screw against the Rod isn't secure, how is that going to hold the business end ?? Can the Fan actually be mounted flush to the Ceiling ?? Help Appreciated, Cheers Thanks

A link to or the model number of the fan would be helpful.

No.... you don't use the long rod at all. You replace it with a supplied shorter one OR the canopy attaches directly to the motor unit with no rod.

The only recourse is a Shorter Downrod if such can be had as the only way the Main Body can be attached is thru the Downrod.. Cheers Thanks for The Comebacks Anyway..
