add ceiling light to illuminate into pantry - track alternative?
I'd like to add a ceiling light that will shine into the left side of this pantry. There is a can/recessed fixture situated more or less in front of the right side. It provides enough indirect light to help see inside the right half of the pantry when the sliding door is open on the right. When the left half sliding door is open, there is no light into it because the can is 31" away.
I'd like to get good indirect light into both sides. First choice would be some alternative to the can for the right side and left. Second choice would be something for the left. Another can seems out of the question because I don't have access above and don't want to dig into the ceiling sheetrock or run onwall to a remodeler's can. And it is not good light for both the hallway and pantry anyway.
Track would put the light where I want, but it is just so blah and doesn't go with the adjacent kitchen lighting that is all recessed.
If a track is the only alternative, is there a code-compliant adapter for wiring the track into the bulb socket inside the can, rather than tearing back to the romex?

Anything you put on the ceiling out there will look strange.
A recessed light sounds like it will be out of place with the existing ones.
How about something inside the closet ?
Any basement access there ?
Possibly one of those battery closet lights.

I agree with installing something inside the pantry. Wiring can be surface mounted in conduit or Wiremold and mostly hidden inside the pantry. You could even install a motion switch so when somebody opens a door, the light will turn on.

All good ideas.
Are there ways to spread the light better from the existing can? Like an adapter that will move the bulb down and out of the can and a bulb that creates a wider or brighter flood? Without making an eyesore.

You could get an eyeball trim: Halo 78 Series 6 in. White Recessed Ceiling Light Trim with Adjustable Eyeball-78P - The Home Depot
"eyesore" is somewhat subjective.
What is above the ceiling? Attic? 2nd floor?
