Recessed Light in Shower Question

I have a very old prescolite enclosure and I lost one of the metal pieces that holds the light cover. I took a picture to show what the metal piece looks like. Does anyone know what the name of the piece is?

Welcome to the forums.

Are you looking for the little black clip that holds the lens in ?
Since the lens sits down in there.... it shouldn't be needed.

I've never seen that clip available separately.

Perplexing wiring for ceiling fan

He everyone, hoping Ican get some help. I am replacing one of my fans, and was surprised when I exposed the wires. The wiring was completely wrong, yet the old fan and light worked. As you can see in the picture, the black hot wire had electrical tape around it and was NOT connected to anything else. The bare wire, ground, was connected to the fans, black and blue wires. The neutral white was connected to the neutral fan wire. I don’t understand how this works, unless the ground is somehow hot. I opened up an outlet connected to that circuit and it is wired corrected, ground to ground and all black wires connected to black. What am am I dealing with here? Thanks in advance -MarcoRead More

Garage Lighting + EV charger help needed

Hey Guys, I am looking to upgrade the lighting in a 2 car, 440sqft garage. Ideally, I would like to use 6" cans for the flush look and because I have a low ceiling (9ft). I'm on the fence on how many cans I would need and so far leaning towards at least 8 of them. Too little? Maybe a combo of cans + troffers? The workbench will get it's own 4ft tube light. On the subject of future EV charging, I am learning that today's chargers are using 40amps and tomorrow's charger @ 80amp (skipping 60amps altogether). Does this sound about right?
