Replacing light fixture with Transformer?

I plan to replace three halogen light fixtures over my kitchen island with reg LED fixtures. The halogen fixtures were wired with MDL transformers which are attached to the box. Rather than remove the box from the ceiling to remove the transformers, can I cut away wires to the transformer and leave the transformer attached to the box so I can wire the new fixtures direct? I don't plan to go back halogens/low wattage any time soon.

Apologies if this is basic. I've never dealt with these types of transformers.

Thanks in advance-

Yes.... you can disable the old transformers and leave them in place.
It would be a good idea to just cap the wires off with wirenuts.
