Pulsating lights
Hi all,
Am new to the forum. I have a question regarding my wife’s electric hair flat iron. When she plugs it in, the lights that are on the same circuit pulsate. The data plate on the iron shows 115 and 48 watts....so at most it should be using is 1 amp.....I have not yet hooked up an amp meter in line....it is a Remington model s6500...with an lcd display....when she uses the hair dryer on the same outlet lights don’t pulse....any ideas?
thx for the help

Welcome to the forums.
That appliance shows a maximum wattage of 450 watts. It is designed to cycle to maintain the set temperature. I'm sure your lights dim when the blow dryer is turned on the first time.
The lights flickering during the use of the iron sounds normal.

Thanks for the reply. I emailed Remington, and your right, they said it electronically pulses the power to the hair iron. My question is , is the pulsing lights some kind of feedback from the iron, or is it actually drawing too many amps causing the pulsating?

You are seeing the unit using small chunks of power. It's using several amps of power with every call for heat. I doubt it's too much.
