Outdoor ceiling fans
Are there fans available that are OK to use in areas where they would get rained on? That is they have very little shelter and would get very wet on the top side.

Certainly. You'd search for a wet rated outdoor ceiling fan.
All the major companies manufacture them and the home improvement stores carry them.

Yes, just search for outdoor ceiling fans. I have six of them. The ones here in the center of the state are 18 years old and still look great and work well. The ones at the coast exposed to the salt air need replacing about every 6-8 years.
