New light fixture won't turn off

Alright guys please be patient with me I'm a rookie. So coming out of the ceiling I have a red, black, white and a ground.

On my new fixture I have a black and a white

Currently, with going red and white to white and black to black I have power but I can't turn it off using my switch

Please help

Cap the ceiling black and connect the fixture black to the red.
What happened when you turned on the switch? Did the breaker pop?

If the new fixture is white and black the red should be capped.

Black to black and white to white.

Do you remember how the old fixture was wired?

IF you only have three wires there....... red, black and white. The white of your fixture goes to the white wire. The black of the fixture will go to either the red or black wire. One of them will be always live and one should be switched. Try them both.

I'd connect the new fixture to the same wires the old fixture was connected to.
