Does this look right, how can I tell?

I just shorted a dimmer switch. Google took me here to a thread about using the proper wattage dimmer switch. I think that was my issue. The switch controls 5 incandescen bulbs. Can you have a look at this set up and make sure that there is nothing else I am missing? Based on recommendations here I think I will replace it with a regular light switch first to make sure Iíve got it right before burning out another expensive dimmer.

Welcome to the forums.

You connected the dimmer to a short circuit.

The black from the dimmer goes to hot/line.
The red from the dimmer goes to load.
Nothing goes to neutral.

When you do future wiring..... pull the devices out and take pictures before disconnecting them.

Thanks Pete! The dimmer stopped working, and when I pulled it out the box, one of the blacks from the original nob style dimmer pulled out of the wire nut before I could see which one it was. I wish I would have come here first!
