Dimmer switch on a ceiling fan light
I'm trying to hook up my ceiling fan light on a dimmer switch. The power source is from the light, to the switch. The switch only has a black, white, and ground to it. I have 2 pull strings at the fan and one switch on the wall.
Pull string 1 controls the fan on/off and speed.
Pull string 2 controls the light.
Switch ONLY controls the light.
1) Can I install the dimmer switch since the current switch only controls the light? The second pull string at the fan that also controls the light has me second guessing
2) Would the white wire at the switch be hot? There is no tape around it.

Welcome to the forum.
If the fan works regardless of that switch's position..... then you can install a dimmer for the light at that location. Since you only have two wires there..... it's called a switch loop. You don't need to know which wire is hot. The dimmer can be connected in either direction.
