Size: 14.1 KB 2017 Tohatsu 6 HP MFS6CSPROL Outboard Motor MFS6CSPROL-17

My Brother and myself had taken sailboat out and backing it in at house bumped something lightly and next day saw upper shaft where it goes in motor had broke off, have part that broke and wonder can it be welded back on or do we need to buy another shaft??

Seems top part of shaft is still in upper part of motor but a piece did fall out so guess 2 pieces need to be welded to the upper mount part?

Or do i need whole new shaft?

Look at the parts list for your motor and see if that part is available individually. I doubt it can be welded.

Question

Thanks, don't know if it would be a good idea to weld it seems to be made from cheap aluminum (I guess) but read on another forum somebody had same issue and a welder said he could weld it for $100.00 but I just don't know!
