Stihl parts for string trimmer

So the trimmer head fell off my 2 yr old Stihl FS40 trimmer. The drive shaft fell out. I understand that you can only order Stihl parts thru an authorized dealer. Will they order the parts for me or will they insist on making the fixes. I am not even sure which pars I need as I can not find a parts diagram anywhere? Any ideas? Thanks all.

Heads only held on by two spline head screws, it comes off the shaft can slide out.
Just slide the shaft back in while turning to shaft it line it up with the power head, then slide the head back on doing the same thing.

You have a circlip snap ring that has broken there should be a groove for it fit into, it is very hard to try to explain since this 10cent clip holds everything together, it is just above the trimmer head and holds the cable in the tube and the trimmer head on the shaft. Have a good one Geo

Any Stihl dealer will sell you parts,
Only time they would have to do the repair is if it's still under warranty.

You'll find "some" Stihl parts on eBay, but not like for other Brands.

It's slim pickings but worth looking periodically.
