I am looking to identify a part that I need to replace and can't find anywhere.
See the attached picture, it's the one circled in red. It's located at the top of the gas tank and plugs into a small hole then it has a tube that goes to the air box. Well, I pulled that piece out and the rubber seal around it tore off.
What is this part and what is it for?
I looked all over the WEN parts section and can't find it.

Welcome to the forums.
That is some type of vapor recovery system. There would be a check valve there to allow the fumes to be able to be removed from the tank for burning.
Is there a model number on that generator? Not sure if 3500 is an actual model number.
Looks something like this...

It's this generator (Wen 3500 Model 56352)
WEN 56352 3500 Watt Generator
I looked through all the replacement parts. There is all kinds of stuff there except that piece.
Is it critical to the operation of the generator?

The most complete manual for your genny.

It may be a new addition that the manual hasn't illustrated yet. You may need to contact WEN directly. Their contact info is in the manual.

Your profile doesn't list your location...any chance that is a California market generator? Their stricter requirements sometimes lead to special models for sale in CA. If that is the case, it's likely that contacting WEN will be your best shot.
