Flooded 2stroke hedge trimmer???

Weedeater 2stroke. Just rebuilt card. Ran fine on test after rebuild. Filled tank and left it sitting in the sun for couple of hours. Tried to start it and it was locked up. Flooded to the point that gas was coming out the exhaust and gas cap. After clearing gas, still would't start. Took the carb apart and the inlet needle spring was completely bent out of spec. Apparently, the expanding fuel bent the inlet needle spring. Readjusted and then ran fine. Thoughts as to what happened and how to prevent. Hard to believe that the hedge trimmer can't be left out in the sun with temp in the 70's.
TIA.

I don't see any way that could be even possible.

Sorry, I should've proof read this before sending. It was late and the old mind a bit foggy. Anyway, the part that was bent was the inlet needle metering lever, not the spring ( carb is Walbro WT307). And, I tried to use it today and couldn't get it started. Gas tank had to much pressure and it spit out gas when opened. Something is keeping the entire carb system over pressurized. ?????? I follow typical starting procedure, Prime, choke, start. Sometimes it starts, rough slow idle on full choke, but if I half choke, it stalls.???

Ok, gotcha now. In the first post, you said it was in the sun, which can cause a pretty good amount of pressure buildup in the gas tank. I'd say bend the tab on the lever back so that it is level with the carb body or a little under and give it a try. I don't have the lever height specs on hand right now.

Ok, I did readjust the lever to spec. I used the Walbro gauge. The trimmer worked after that but, the next day I had the same problem. Too much pressure in the carb/fuel tank. Other than heat related expanding gas, I can't figure out where the built up pressure is coming from.

Is it in a place with direct sunlight or high heat?

No, only when using. I'm thinking that the pressure problem may be due to winter fuel mix and a bad gas tank cap vent leading to over pressurizing the fuel system. Can't think of anything else that would lead to this problem. How does one test a gas cap???
