Lawnmower help

Replaced fuel tank on Craftsman Briggs & Stratton Gold self propelled push mower because cap was stripped.
Fired up then died 3 minutes later.
Cleaned out entire carb...sprayed, air compressor, wire in tiny holes.
Changed spark plug and air filter.
STILL won't start??!!

In one line you say it fires up and runs for 3 minutes. Then you say it won't start. So, which is it?

If the engine was running OK before changing gas tank, it should be running OK after the change unless you did something like bending the carb linkage or mounting the linkage in the incorrect hole, etc. Why did you change plug (not a bad thing)?
