Chainsaw won't run

Hey guys I've got a poulan pro pp4218a that I'm having issues with. A customer brought it to me for a general servicing and as I was putting the top cover back on the ignition coil spark plug wire had broke. Before that happened and after I got the saw all cleaned up and chain sharpened the saw ran great. I had an extra ignition coil so I put it on and gapped it to .02 and now it's real hard to start. When it does start and run it runs real bad and when hit the throttle it dies. I know the timing is off but why? I set it to the specs that the saw calls for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just to let everyone know as of now it has a new carb, new spark plug, the spark arrestor has been cleaned, and the chain and guide are off to rule out any problem there.

Put the old coil back on it and splice the break in the plug wire. See if it runs OK. If changing the coil brought on the problem, the coil may be the issue.

Only working with the flywheel would change the timing. The air gap on the coil/module has a spec, but a little either way of spec wouldn't affect anything.

The symptom sounds like fuel/carb. Is it a new carb or just a different one?

I suspect when you put the carb on you kinked the fuel line.

It's a brand new carb. I will have to look at it tomorrow to see if the line is kinked
