Discontinued part for Remington chainsaw
I thought I would toss this out here, to see if anyone had a possible solution to my problem.
Three years ago, my son gave me a Remington RM5118 chainsaw as a birthday present. Since then it has been a great saw, lots of power, easy starting, etc. Now for the problem, the Clutch Drum Assembly has a couple of broken teeth. The part number is 753-06450 and has been discontinued by MTD. I've searched the internet and no one seems to have one of these in stock.
I thought about having a machine shop make me another one from scratch, but that seems like an expensive fix. When I could use the money towards a new Stihl chainsaw.
I thought about using a Clutch Drum Assembly from a different make/model chainsaw, but I have no idea where to look for anything close to fitting.
I hate the idea of tossing the chainsaw in the trash, especially since it was a gift.
Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions, words of sympathy?

Hard to believe that it would be hard to get a part for a 3-year-old saw. It is also hard to believe that there are broken teeth on that part as I should be one of the tougher parts on that saw. I wonder if it is a recall?
Can you post a picture of your part?
Maybe you could try to contact the manufacturer and see if they can do anything for you. https://remingtonpowertools.com/product/rm5118r-rodeo/

Cheese...I think that basically says "Estimated to be in stock on 03-09-2019"? They want YOU to order from them, then they'll order it, then it won't come in, then they'll say delayed, then you'll want your money back...etc etc etc.
I'd say the only chance is to call the manufacturer and try to speak to a tech...or go to a few shops and see if anyone has some old parts.
You might try Ebay if you haven't. I found stuff searching on there that doesn't come up in a regular internet search, dunno why.

Every chance I get to trash pick a small gas appliance I grab them, tear it apart and sell the parts. It may take a few months but eventually they sell!
The parts far outweigh the entire unit!

Very well could be Gunguy. I just saw "in stock" next to the part number.
Many, probably most times, a clutch drum will fit several different models. If you can get the specifications of the original clutch, you might contact Oregon company and talk with a rep there to see if they have one that fits those dimensions.

You would think, but not necessarily anymore. I had a Samsung TV that went bad and needed a new Y sustain board... No longer available, obsolete, and it was 2 1/2 years old. $1900 tv and no parts available. Times are changing I guess.
