Craftsman 3.5HP Edger - Gas Leak

Hi All,

This is a brand new carb....but seems to be leaking some gas out of the fuel intake. There is a small detacheable piece that the fuel line is connected to. It is barbed, and the fuel line is held on by a small hose clamp. I recently replaced the rubber fuel line hose, as it had some cracks in it and was causing leaks. Now it appears its definitely leaking from that piece.

Should I just take the carb back off, then wrap a little bit of plumbers tape on that piece to stop it? It's not leaking very much.........maybe a few drops every couple of hours, but just want to take care of it.

Pictures attached.........

You have to use gas resistant (yellow) teflon tape.

Tape won't help this... that piece does not screw in, it is pressed in. Usually when it leaks from here, it's because the plastic piece has cracked or come loose at the brass insert. It can be ordered and replaced but with the price of new aftermarket carbs these days, I'd just put a new one on. It's probably cheaper than the inlet barb.
