Reading Standby Generator Oil Level
I have a 13kw standby Generac generator. It's very difficult to read the oil level after I change it--even with a magnifying glass--because it's so clear.
Can I use one of the dyes that I see available? How much should I use, and will it harm the engine? Thanks!

Well It's 1.7 Gallons oil I need, and I can do the dye to oil ratio calculation.
The dye however only mentions "For all auto Oil and fuel systems." So my question is whether or not it's safe for a small Generac standby generator engine?

Generally automotive oil specs exceed almost all others and there is no problem using a higher rated oil.
I have never used or had a need for dye. If I have trouble seeing the level I just touch the dipstick on a piece of paper or paper towel. When your remove the dipstick you can see the level by the oil left on the paper.
