How to maintain some old batteries

I have a few different batteries from a generator to motorcycle to truck. Should I connect these to a trickle charger to maintain whatever health they have left and if so would a cheap solar charger suffice? And would I just connect them all up in series?

Each battery will take a charge at a different rate.
That means that each battery should be charged separately.

Keeping batteries on charge indefinitely cooks them..... no matter how low the charge.
If you have several batteries... charge each one for several days once a month.
