Chunks or powder in paint

So I was doing a small paint job for a co worker and the paint they had bought has some sort of hard wax clay like substance in it not really sure what it is... I used a mixer to stir it up used screens to filter it out and with in minutes it begins to form up again anyone know whats going on

What's the name/brand of paint? 1 gallon / 5 gallon? Some basic info might help. Just sounds like pigments to me. Panty hose makes the best paint filter, imo. Pouring it out of the old bucket and into a new clean one would be best.

also how old was the paint? latex? oil base? what is it being applied too?
We used to always use panty hose to strain paint before they started selling straining bags at the paint store ..... I still strain with panty hose occasionally, window screen can let trash thru.

btw - welcome to the forums Mark!
