Messy floorboards under skirting
Hi,
There are some large gaps between our skirting and exposed floor boards and the previous owners painting of the skirts has left them looking quite messy.
I'd really appreciate any suggestions on how these could be cleaned up that wouldn't take forever and a day (life's too short).
Wondering whether beading is the only way to really get a clean looking edge.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Here in the USA we always install baseboard and add shoemold if needed. I'd recommend at a minimum shoemold or quarter round. If you prime and apply the first coat of enamel prior to installation it will make finishing easier.
