Best stain for cedar siding?

I'm about to embark on re staining my cedar siding. Its been previously stained with solid color stain so I'll be doing the same again. I'm looking for opinions on the best longest lasting solid color stain I can find. Oil, water, or hybrid all works for me if it lasts. My home is almost 4 stories high at the front so I'm going to be renting a lift to get up there. Not worth saving a penny on stain if I can avoid doing it again any sooner.

Consumer reports said the Behr from home depot scored highest but I'm a little Leary of that claim.

Thanks!

Oil base stains tend to seal the best, waterbased stains tend to hold their color longer.

I'd suggest checking locally as to which stains last the longest. What works best here in tenn might not fare so well further north. When I lived in fla, an oil stain had a very short life because of the intense sunlight. Here in tenn, it does better with waterborne stains preforming marginally better than oil.

Generally you'll find better coatings [advice too] at your local paint store [not a paint dept]

Better results Cleaning with a power washer

I have much better luck cleaning all surfaces first with a good cleaning solution and a hand sprayer. Like a Jomax or other recommended cleaning solution.
And allow several days for all siding to dry properly!

No matter which direction you decide.....
One more thing I am not a big fan of clear or semi-clear unless your using it on a new project/lumber.
I would stick with a solid color stain. it holds up better. especially on horizontal surfaces decks etc.
Good luck!
